Donatienne Ryckbost is a specialist with years of experience in public law and administrative law, in particular monuments, historic houses and architectural heritage, rights of ownership and expropriation, environmental permitting law, environmental and spatial planning law, soil pollution.

She has extensive experience in the special procedures of the administrative courts, the Council for Permit Disputes, the Council of State, the Constitutional Court and the Court of Justice, and in conducting proceedings before the civil courts and tribunals. She conducts negotiations related to real estate transactions, and handles the editing of diverse contractual arrangements and settlements. She also has significant experience in preparing legislative work and providing policy support advice.

She has defended for years all aspects of the property rights and interests of private owners, in particular regarding monuments and architectural heritage and new developments in this regard related to the Flemish Heritage Decree and its implementing measures (Constitutional Court and Council of State), rural matters, agreements with the Flemish authorities, etc.
She also has wide-ranging and long experience with the legal issues and procedures related to the realisation of large infrastructure works, port and airport developments and the railway sector.

She has been a member of the Brownfield Commission from 2008 to the present.

In addition to her law practice, she also has a strong research background in these matters. She was formerly a visiting professor at Ghent University in the field of private environmental law (2002 to 2009) and member of the Interuniversity Commission for the Review of Environmental Law in the Flemish Region (1989 -1995). This commission was composed of leading specialists in environmental law and was responsible for the rationalisation of environmental law in Flanders.

She has given various guest lectures and speeches for many years and is the author of diverse publications.
